FAQs
What Checks & Balances is, who it is for, and how AI Managers keep your company on course.
Who is this built for?
Built for company leaders who need world-class managers to keep the company on course, win with customers, and catch drift before it costs real time and money.
How is this different from ChatGPT or Claude?
ChatGPT and Claude do what you ask, one person at a time, and you explain your company again every time. An AI Manager owns a department:
- Knows your company
- Works with your team in one shared workspace
- Checks the work against your strategy
- Tells you what you didn't know to ask, before it gets expensive
Is this replacing our managers?
Not the people you have. As you grow, you add AI Managers instead of layers of managers, one for each department, and they keep pace with your AI agents in a way people can't.
How do AI Managers know when the company is drifting?
They look for themselves: in your connected tools, your team's shared threads, and the market. What they find goes into your Company World Model, and they check it against your strategy. Each issue is scored by the damage it could do. Only the serious ones come to you, with the evidence and a way back on course.
What if the AI is wrong?
It can be, just like people. The difference is that AI Managers show their work: every answer and issue comes with the facts and evidence behind it and how sure they are, and their predictions are checked against what actually happens. Your leaders see the reasoning and make the calls.
Does it act on its own?
AI Managers only use the tools you give them access to. Within that, they can do much of the work on their own, based on your direction. You stay in control: the big calls are yours, and they ask before changing anything important, like a launch date or your CRM.
Does it work with the AI agents we already use?
Yes. Coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor can connect to Checks & Balances, read the strategy and roadmap, and update the work they are doing, so your team's AI agents work from the same direction as everyone else.
We don't have a clear strategy yet. Can we still start?
Yes. Tell your AI Managers where you want the company to go and share what you have, like a deck, notes, or your goals. They draft the strategy with you, choice by choice, and you approve it.
Do we have to replace Jira, Slack, or Notion?
You don't have to replace them, but your team might use them less. When your team and AI Managers work together in Checks & Balances, decisions, updates, and handoffs happen in one shared space tied to the strategy and roadmap, instead of being scattered across chats, tickets, and docs.
Is our data safe?
Each company's data is isolated at the database level, so one workspace can't read another's. Every request is checked against who you are and what your role allows, admins sign in with multi-factor authentication, and data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Security events are logged, and AI Managers ask before changing anything in a connected system. Trust & Control lays out exactly what we access and how.
How much does it cost?
Team members are $20 a month each, and your whole company shares one AI Manager usage budget. You set it, starting at $200 a month, get alerts before you reach it, and can raise or lower it anytime in Settings. Team access is free for the first month. See pricing for details.
How do we know it pays off?
Catching one costly mistake a year can cover it: a lawsuit avoided, a quarter of rework saved, a revenue goal not missed. The ROI calculator runs the numbers for your company.
Can we start with a pilot?
Yes. You don't have to move your whole company over. Start with one strategy, project, or area, with a few team members or your core leaders, and your AI Managers can start catching drift within a few days. To set up a pilot, start a workspace today, or email sales@checksbalances.ai for enterprise plans.
